You can adjust your appearance permanently by simply going for cosmetic surgery. Examples of what you can get done include tightening of the skin, adjustment of facial features, and hair removal among many others. Cosmetic surgery can also be used for medical reasons such as repairing scars and restoring function to body parts after a traumatic experience. There are many procedures available for cosmetic surgery. Some of the most common ones are highlighted below.

Common types of cosmetic surgery

Hair transplant

Hair transplant surgery can also be referred to as hair restoration. A majority of people who go for the procedure are those with baldness. For the procedure, hair is removed from one part of the body where there is thick growth and transplanted to the bald area. The procedure can take a number of sessions depending on the size of the bald area. An average of a thousand hairs can be moved in a single session. The hairs moved are usually permanent and may continue to grow after the procedure. You will not require any long-term care.

Breast augmentation

This is a process in which the shape and size of breasts are changed. The procedure is referred to as breast implant surgery when the size of the breasts is to be increased. You should note that the procedure is quite different from breast lifts.

Dermabrasion

This is a procedure where the top layer of the skin is scrubbed out using specialized tools. With the top layer removed, new skin will replace it through the healing process. The result is that you will have better and healthier looking skin. It is usually done in localized areas of the body. It can be used for age spots, acne scars, crow’s feet, wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, and lesions or growth among many others.

Blepharoplasty

This refers to the upper eyelid surgery, which is aimed at correcting drooping eyelids and eye bags. It is done by removing extra muscle, fat, and skin.

Rhinoplasty

This refers to the cosmetic surgery aimed at reshaping or repairing the nose. A majority of people who go for this procedure do it for cosmetic purposes. Medical reasons may include congenital disabilities or breathing difficulties. It can be used to change the size of the nose, narrow the shape of nostrils, change the angle of the nose, change the shape of the bridge, or correct problems after an injury among many others.

Liposuction

This refers to a procedure aimed at improving body shape by removing deposits of fat. Despite the fact that fats are removed from the body, the procedure is not meant for weight loss. The fats are removed using a vacuum-suction canula, directly from under the skin. Ultrasound may be used before the procedure to break up the fat deposits.
